A Little Bit of This and That
Had a funny start to my day yesterday. While I was in a nice hot shower (we’re in a deep freeze in Ontario right now), Donnie threw a cup of cold water on me. Silly guy threw it over top of the shower curtain. All I could do was laugh. Spent Sunday afternoon surfing and found some tremendously inspiring things to share with you. Stampersuzz’s jaw dropping Silhouette Burst II Stampersuzz’s Silhouette Burst in Gold Cathy’s cute Thank you card Lunarlana’s Flicker Page Snow finally had her ultrasound and it showed nothing. That isn’t to say she doesn’t have a shunt–it just wasn’t visible. She also had a neurology consult which was negative as well. We spoke in great length with Dr.

Kem McNair Creates Custom Surfboards as Wall Art
A well-crafted surfboard is a work of art—especially when it’s embellished with images that evoke the awesome power and beauty of nature that surfers experience while riding the waves. That’s why surfer/artist/photographer/musician Kem McNair of New Smyrna Beach FL came up with the idea of creating limited-edition Surf Artboards.

The only way to find out is to make a trip to the local store. That was probably my first visit to the shoe trade in this species about seven or eight years. I wanted to see how it will be busy, who was shopping there and how much it has changed since my last visit. As I approached the window in front of the store, it was soon clear that things hadn’t changed very much at all.

Secure Your Public Wifi Usage
Q: When you are in your local coffee shop sipping on a latte, surfing the web, what prevents your neighbor three rows over from stealing the internet passwords you type in? A: Not much! If you go to web sites that start out “https://”, (the “s” is the important part), you’re safe. But if you log in to non-secure sites, which happens all the time, your neighbors can “sniff” the network and see exactly what you are doing.

Remainders – The Good, Bad and Ugly Things We Didn’t Post (and Why) [Remainders]
Remainders – The Good, Bad and Ugly Things We Didn’t Post (and Why) [Remainders] The holiday hangover days between Christmas and New Year’s are sort of the year’s remainders to begin with, so it’s a perfectly appropriate time to check out these remainders: Google phones, space probes, misspellings, and one serious party popper. Google Phone On Wheels You can count on Engadget to watch the FCC website like a hawk, and today they spotted a tasty little critter: a bluetooth car dock for the HTC Nexus One. We can’t blame you if you’re a little tired of hearing about the Nexus One by now, but you might not have to hear that name much longer.

Plywood and Cork Laptop Case Slides To Stow [Cases]
Plywood and Cork Laptop Case Slides To Stow [Cases] With their innovative furniture design, Charles and Ray Eames showed the world that plywood could be both beautiful and functional. Brian Kelly’s plywood laptop case is at least one of those two things. While I’m not quite sold on the idea of pulling apart my entire case every time I need to schlep my machine somewhere, designer and woodworker Brian Kelly’s two-piece take on portable protection is certainly easy on the eyes.

LexJet’s New Inkjet-Printable Materials for Custom Wallcoverings

Microsoft removes Custom XML features from Office 2007
As my colleague Mary Jo Foley reported earlier today, Microsoft has lost a crucial court judgment over technology used in Office 2007. Registered OEM partners got a tip-off that the judgment was on its way Monday afternoon, when Microsoft sent an e-mail notifying them of a “new supplement requirement for Office 2007.” It’s a minor headache for OEMs but should have little or no effect on retail customers.

Avoid Fedex, DHL, UPS or other shipping companies brokerage fees Dec 2009
Looking online about brokerage fees that various shipping companies charge, I decided to call them about it. I asked them all the same question. Brokerage fees are charged on ground service, but if I choose air, or other service, will I still be charged a brokerage fee? This is the answer I got from them. Fedex
