3D Effect Continues To Pancake 2D LCD Prices
The roll-out of 3D-capable LCD television continues to pressure prices of older 2D models enough to overwhelm support from any recovery in retail. We’ve previously discussed this effect for 30”-39” LCD sets ( “LCD Prices Fall So Flat They Look Good In 2D ”) as well as 2D Blu-ray players ( “ Blue Light Special On Blu-ray ”); now in a recent press release we’re seeing something very similar for larger models, as captured by the action of the PriceSCAN 46” 1080p LCD Index . That index dropped 2.6% last week, erasing most of a 3.3% rally that occurred three weeks ago as consumer demand showed new signs of life

Photography Business Tip: Take a Fresh Look at In-Studio Inkjet Photo Printing
It had been 7 years since Eric Wordal of Masterpiece Portraits in Helena, Montana attempted to print his own photographic output himself on a 13-inch desktop model. For Digital Cameras, High-Resolution, Higher Prices
Higher-resolution digital cameras are providing more evidence that, at the more sophisticated end of the consumer technology market, demand has now recovered enough to support firmer pricing. I’ve previously commented on some first quarter price strength in higher resolution cameras and key advanced microprocessors (see “ Closer To The State Of The Art, Prices Start To Rise ”). Now, as noted in our latest press release, the digital camera market may be providing confirmation of mark-ups in the loftier precincts of tech, with the PriceSCAN 12 Megapixel Digital Camera Index jumping over five percent last week

False economy with new Printer purchases
Beware – often the cheapest printers have the most expensive replacement ink cartridges! So it is false economy to buy on printer price only because over the life time of a printer the average consumer will spend a great deal on replacement cartridges.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend Dscoop5 in Dallas, TX which focused on the theme of “No Looking Back”. Even though there was snow still lingering on the ground, inside the Gaylord Texan the conversations were certainly hot. More than 1,800 people—along with more than 90 participating vendors highlighting their products and services—converged in Dallas from all around the world (sessions were offered in several different languages).
