Seattle released defensive back DeAngelo Willingham and punter Tom Malone Wednesday, making room for the team to re-sign long-snapper Matt Overton and safety Quinton Teal. Overton was previously on the roster this year, but released in mid-March. Teal participated in a three-day tryout during the Seahawks’ minicamp earlier this month

Crack research expert and drive-time voice of reason Mike Gastineau of KJR-AM dropped a little nugget of knowledge at the end of my Wednesday segment on his show, pointing out Golden Tate’s fourth-quarter production last year: 28 catches for 493 yards and seven touchdowns. Not only that, but Notre Dame’s season was notable for just how many games went down to the wire. So consider that a positive sign for his production

Get a look at the first of Seattle’s two fourth-round picks, Walter Thurmond, through the eyes of Eric Stokes, the West Coast area scout who evaluated him for the Seahawks. Thurmond suffered a season-ending knee injury on the opening kickoff of Oregon’s fourth game of the year against Cal, meaning he played only three games as cornerback his senior year. Q: The team probably relied a lot upon with you on this evaluation, given the lack of tape his senior year

With the draft completed, it’s time to scrutinize the roster to look at what Seattle has, what it could use and where the hot-spots for roster competition will occur. We’ll move across the roster over the remainder of the week, and the starting point for this discussion will be the spot that was the most glaring vacancy entering the draft: offensive tackles. RETURNERS ACQUISITIONS DRAFT PICKS UNDRAFTED SIGNEES Sean Locklear Russell Okung (Ok.State) Kyle Burkhart (Southern Miss) Ray Willis Jacob Phillips (Belhaven, Miss.) More than a year of questions at the most important position on the offensive line have now been answered

Comments by panelist Jeetu Patdla, a Doculab Consultant; “Innovative use of information is not changing corporations as much as transforming entire industries.” For example, consider how Netflix’s mail order movie DVDs service model has impacted Blockbuster’s bricks and mortar movie DVD rental business. Similarly consider Amazon.com’s use of “client data” of suggesting other books by the same author or similar topical books to the one just purchased a few days earlier

The joint On Demand and Info 360 AIIM Conference was expected to have drawn about 24,000 attendees to Philadelphia this past week despite the myriad of flight cancellations out of Europe due to Eyjafjallajokull’s eruption. The On Demand highlights were mostly on the trade floor as Konica Minolta announced their new C8000 and Xerox heralded their 800 and 1000 machines. Seminars were of secondary interest as they touted variable data case studies as they have for more than a decade.

I just read the greatest commentary. Written by Alex Bogusky, co-chairman at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, a Denver-based advertising and marketing firm, he opened by saying, “Let me start out by saying that I know nothing about media.” Considering that he was writing in Media magazine on the topic of the future of media, it was a bold thing to say. He then went on to say that one of his great sources of pride is a t-shirt he created on which is printed, “I don’t even know what I don’t know.” Click here to read the article

Twitter officially launched @Anywhere at the Chirp conference. The program is basically a contextual integration of Twitter within publisher sites. Chloe Sladden , Dir of Media Partnerships at Twitter, described it as a way to shift a page view into a relationship. Users can immediately follow people or learn more about the person seamlessly from a destination site (when that person is mentioned). Dick Costolo, the COO, gave some background on why this makes sense for Twitter.
