Maker of the iLiad e-reader goes bankrupt

IRex Technologies , maker of the e-reader iLiad, has filed for bankruptcy, reports PaidContent . The company, which began selling the iRex DR800SG in February, reports that sales of the device have been below expectations. The DR800SG had received a good deal of attention for it’s unique model, which gave publishers more control over the distribution of their content.

Co-founder believes Scribd is better alternative to Apple’s app

While iPad applications are so far reporting strong numbers, Scribd co-founder believes there is a better way for journals to produce mobile news, PaidContent reports . Jared Friedman , CTO and co-founder of the document sharing website Scribd, believes that his website would function better then iPad applications in communicating news to iPad users.

Fox News introduces more social website

Fox News has recently reported the launch of a its new website Fox News Insider, WebNewser reports . The site, which focuses on an integration of social media, allows for users to post on a “live wall” and displays the tweets of Fox correspondents in a Twitter Tracker. Other features of the site include an open question and a poll to which users can respond.

Financial Times wins award for iPad application

The Financial Times iPad application has gained some serious bragging rights: it recently became the first application to win “Best iPad App” during the 2010 Apple Design Awards. The New York Observer reports that the application was downloaded 150,000 times in its first three weeks. Robert Grimshaw , managing director of FT.com, expressed satisfaction with the initial numbers of the application and said that “average session lengths continue to exceed our expectations.” The application, which offers 10 free articles a month before requiring the user to subscribe, provides access to all of FT.com’s sections and allows for users to download articles for offline reading

He played center field for Notre Dame’s baseball team, and this is the second time he has been taken in the baseball draft. A few follow-up notes on the incident involving Golden Tate at the Top Pot Doughnuts cafe in Bellevue. Officer Carla Iafrate of the Bellevue Police Department confirmed that Tate received a trespassing warning on Saturday morning. He was not cited nor arrested.
