The study found that sending a used toner cartridge back to Lexmark for recycling, as opposed to throwing it away, reduces the overall carbon footprint of that cartridge by up to 60 percent. The company runs free collection programs for its inkjet and toner cartridges.

I just read the greatest commentary. Anyone who uses inkjet printers regularly knows the cartridge replacements cost a fortune. Granted, the ink and the plastic used to make the cartridges are extremely cheap, but somehow I have to spend a hundred bucks every time I print a few hundred pages. Obviously, this adds up.
