MeeGo Maybe, Maybe Not Heading To Nokia N900 [Conflicting Rumors From Nokia Have Created Confusion Over MeeGo]
Nokia and Intel caused some excitement when they announced they were merging their mobile operating systems into one that would be called MeeGo. Considering that the Nokia N900, Nokia’s current high-end smartphone, shipped with Meamo, Nokia’s half of MeeGo, it was assumed that MeeGo would run on the Nokia N900. Unfortunately, that may not be the case, or it may be.

We hit independent Oregonian jewelers Nicholas and Felice’s Pi Pendant and Pi Earrings for Pi Day this last Sunday, but, as you can see from these pics, they’ve got cool handmade jewelry for geeks of all flavors. If you’re a chemist, for instance, you might appreciate their Atomic Symbol for Silver Necklace , shown above, either as jewelry or as a gorgeous (and attractively labeled) silver specimen for your elements collection. You can be identified by the germs you leave behind
A study by Noah Fierer and co-workers at the University of Colorado at Boulder suggests that the mix of bacterial flora each of us leaves behind on, say, our computer keyboard or mouse, may be sufficiently unique to identify us: “Each one of us leaves a unique trail of bugs behind as we travel through our daily lives,” said Fierer, an assistant professor in CU-Boulder’s ecology and evolutionary biology department. “While this project is still in it’s preliminary stages, we think the technique could eventually become a valuable new item in the toolbox of forensic scientists.” The study was published March 15 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

I Survived the Confluence Writers Retreat!
By Martha Reed I belong to the Pittsburgh chapter of Sisters in Crime and I’m starting to think we have some funky mojo going when it comes to scheduling our events and running into freakish weather. Last January, during our Hallie Ephron Workshop, a surprise blizzard blew into Pittsburgh exactly one hour before the event was scheduled to begin. An ice storm blasted Western Pennsylvania the day of our Holiday Luncheon this year and just last weekend – after months and months of planning – our Writers Retreat featuring special guest teacher and moderator Ramona Long was situated in Confluence, PA, which if you’ve been watching the news was Ground Zero for the snowmelt flooding on the Yachagheny river on Saturday.

How to Emboss Your Oversized Card
“ How do you emboss a 6″ x 6″ card front ?” This is a question I have been asked, time and time again. Today I am going to show you one of the easiest ways to do just that. Most of my cards are 6″ x 6″ so I am always trying to come up with something that looks interesting and discovered this technique when I was wanting to emboss my 6″ x 6″ card. My designer paper was made by using the Abstract Embossing Technique from the April 2005 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter . My image is a download from Twisted Papers .

Two sisters collaborate on The Three Girls
In response to DIY Movie Making Month, one of our readers, Angela Sheehan, sent us this wonderful little movie she made with her (then six-year-old) sister: This is a stop-motion collage I made, based on drawings by my little sister (six years old at the time). Back in 2005, I was studying animation and taking classes in childhood development/learning and wanted to combine the two. I decided to make a movie with her over Thanksgiving break.

How to Implement a Successful ECM Project
As you know, I spend all of my waking hours (save my triweekly spelunking sessions, of course) scouring the Interweb so I can find cool stuff about what document management can do to improve businesses. The glitz and glamour of MFPs and mobile printing is exciting and all, but sometimes it’s important to get back to the basics
