New Blog Focused on Mailing and Fulfillment

One of Doc’s regular sources is a terrific website for the printing industry called WhatTheyThink . It’s really a network of sites, and they just launched a new blog which touches on one of my favorite subjects: mailing and fulfillment. Nearly every decent-sized business deals with regular mailings and fulfillment of incoming account information

iPhone 4: Can’t Wait for FaceTime!

And the hottest topic in the tech circuit is – the iPhone 4 . We actually find it interesting that despite the fact that Apple did not seem to be introducing anything new – and that’s not because they are not innovative, but because someone else beat them to the first reveal – the excitement still seems to be on a high note.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of refilling printer cartridges.

We are often asked if we sell ink to refill empty printer cartridges. The short answer is – NO we definitely don’t sell ink for refill purposes. Cisco & Tandberg Adopt TIP Standard = Good News for Telepresence

Tandberg gave me a heads-up a few weeks ago that they would be making some major announcements regarding Cisco and third-party telepresence interoperability as well as an announcement of a new FEC (Forward Error Correction) protocol called ClearPath, which would improve video quality even at high packet loss. An interesting back story behind the Cisco acquisition of Tandberg is that Cisco had to make sure Cisco’s open source and free TIP ( Telepresence Interoperability Protocol ) protocol was used. The EU wouldn’t approve the acquisition of Tandberg without Cisco agreeing to use this protocol

Faux Stained Glass

The new issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter is out, and boy did I jump for joy when I opened my copy; Pat put two pieces of my work into the paper issue.  This is one of two items that I spoke of.  The funny thing is, I found this card in my scanner and thought that I forgot to send it to Pat. If you know me, you will know I love to colour so I put lots of detail into my faux stained glass card.  It is such a fun technique to do because it allows me to be very creative by designing out the pieces of glass

A new Fatwa?

Extract from http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20100530/tap-indonesia-health-tobacco-children-aeccaac.html “In the absence of tough government regulations Muslim clerics recently issued a fatwa against smoking. But analysts said the religious edict was likely to have about as much effect as regulations banning smoking in bars and restaurants, which are widely ignored.” In the Name of God, The Most Gracious, The Most Compassionate… The above is just one of the many things I am simply unable to accept. No, I am not addicted to smoking.

Misconceptions about medical blogs

From the newsletter Australian Pharmacists : “At the heart of social media is the blog, an online diary where news, gossip, industry issues, opinion and scandal jostle for space.” I cover medical news from educational perspective on CasesBlog but I try not to include “gossip, industry issues, opinion and scandal” and with one post per day, they never “jostle for space”.

Cisco’s Weird Numbers Track Data Explosion

Cisco does a thorough job of predicting traffic trends on the Internet. Of course, as long as those numbers go up – and they certainly do go up – it essentially is Cisco’s way of telling the world how much its equipment will be needed.

What Google TV will mean for the DIY HTPC market

Sooo Google announced their living room product strategy — Google TV . Seems to me like a sound strategy with the right pieces in place : – Android platform that 3rd parties can develop against, adapted for the TV -check! – Google less-than-free business model (ie they’ll pay cable or satellite providers a nice cut of their ad revenues in Google search, maps, etc) -check! (See bgurley post on the “less than free” business model concept) – deals with hardware makers (Sony, Intel, Logitech) -check! – deal with a TV provider (Dish Networks) to provide initial go to market beachhead -check! So I think all the pieces are there for Google to try and get the TV-as-a-platform party started.
