Make: Time & Space: More workshop organization ideas

I just love checking out other people’s workshops for those little flashes of inspiration. Make: Online reader Kaas of Ashland, WI wrote in with some excellent tactics for storing hardware. First, she uses chocolate milk containers to store screws and then tapes an example onto the outside of each one so she know’s what’s inside — no labels necessary

Honda’s answer to Segway looks a lot like Serge

OK, so, Gareth may not like it, but this video of Honda’s prototype U3-X omni-wheeled personal vehicle my brother just sent me is rather more persuasive than the shaky hand-cam footage of nervous American riders Gar posted back in 2009. Although I agree the butt-pads are kind of creepy

The 5-minute circuit board agitator, or, making temporary tools

I don’t etch circuit boards very often, so I can’t really justify purchasing or even storing much specialized equipment for it. Once in a while, though, I do need to produce a batch of boards, and having something as simple as an automatic agitator for the etchant tank can make the job much easier

Mintybuck USB charger is like a supercharged Mintyboost

Dave Clausen of NYC Resistor wanted a powerful battery pack to recharge his energy-hungry iPhone 3GS and myriad ham radio equipment, so he designed the Mintybuck to handle the job with ease. Rather than using AA batteries and a boost converter to raise the output voltage to 5v, he swapped in a 12v lithium cell and a LM2674-5.0 -based buck converter to efficiently drop the voltage down to 5v.
