What Is a Universal Print Driver? Is It Like Esperanto?

PrinTip: Universal Print Drivers Aim to Simplify Printing to Multiple Printers But Fall Short A universal print driver is like the universal spoken language, Esperanto . Created with hopes of high adoption rates, neither has lived up to its expectations. Every printer requires a software program — or print driver — to serve as an intermediary between it and your computer

Why isn’t there a ‘Posterous’-like auction site?

I write this as I slog through the complexity and confusion that is eBay’s “eBay Selling” app for the iPhone (selling my Dad’s old Palm Pre)– at this moment, I’m literally waiting for eBay’s app to upload photographs, my 5th attempt to get the Palm Pre listed on eBay through this iPhone app!! Someone needs to do an auction website + app for the iPhone that’s dead simple — like Posterous does for blogging. Posterous’s tagline on their frontpage is “the dead simple place to post everything” and I want to see “the dead simple place to sell anything.” Let me pre-fill my preferences and what-not on their website. Then point my iPhone’s camera at what I want to sell and take some photos

High Frequency Trading aka Algorithmic trading

As fascinating as it may seem, computers are becoming the tool of choice for many.  For example, in order to buy premium domain names that have expired, one can create a program that will try to purchase the domain name at the exact moment that it expires.  For example, a domain name with an intrinsic

High-risk profession: Suicide rate of U.S. doctors is one per day

More than a quarter of primary care doctors reported being “burnt out,” in part due to worsening time pressures and a chaotic work pace, which were “strongly associated with low physician satisfaction.” 300-400 doctors in the United States kill themselves every year, or roughly 1 per day. Male doctors have suicide rates 1.4 times that of the general population, while female doctors have twice the rate of depression and 2.3 times the suicide rate when compared with women who are not physicians

Try That Technique FAUX DESIGNER PAPER

Good morning stampers!  It’s Try That Technique Thursday where Diana Enns and I challenge each other to use an older technique from the TJ newsletter .  This week the challenge was to create Faux Designer Paper from the December 2008 issue.  Pat has a sale on 2008 issues which you can read over at the Design Junkie blog. This technique is fun for me because I like the ability to create my own backgrounds.  Starting with a clean stamp table, I find myself surrounded by lots of stamp pads, sponges, heat embosser, and stamps; leaving me at 12″ x 12″ spot to create.  I beat you do the same thing, eh? My paper took me in the direction of shabby chic, so I created a shabby chic image for the card front.  I lightly misted water onto my stamp pad, coloured my stamp with watercolour crayons, misted the stamp again, and then stamped the image out.
